10th Grade Confirmation Preparation

Dear 10th Grade Families,

Greetings from St. John’s Confirmation team. We welcome you to the 2nd year of preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. As Catholics, we believe the reception of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation complete our initiation into the church. Our goal as a parish is to help our candidates accept the gift of faith and express it in their daily lives. As 9th graders the focus was on Faith Formation, continuing to learn about the faith and how to live it in our daily lives. As 10th grade families we continue to do this in our ongoing preparation. In addition, our program for students becomes more focused on immediate preparation for celebrating the Confirmation Liturgy with Bishop Harrington in the spring.

Please look over the overview of our confirmation preparation process, which is on the website and/or in your mailing. As you can see, everyone attends the monthly classes and has the same requirements of retreat, interview, learning centers, mentoring sessions, etc. IF you have questions about any of these things, please feel free to call me at 387-6928 and I would be more than happy to explain or clarify.

Our confirmation team of priest, youth minister, and trained leaders will lead our monthly sessions. Each session will include preparing for some part of the Confirmation process, faith sharing, prayer, and time for questions. IF you as a parent are interested in being on this year’s catechist team, please let me know, as there are always a number of opportunities to help either during the sessions or in preparation for them.

This is an exciting time for both candidates and their families. We welcome you!! We are preparing for a good year. You are in our prayers here in the parish, and we ask to be kept in yours as well. As soon as we get a date for Confirmation from the Bishop’s office, we will send you a detailed calendar with dates and times that you need to know.
