The men of St. John's invites all men to joiin. This organization provides an opportunity for men to support a variety of social and financial events of our parish. This includes the parish chicken dinner and the financial support of youth events.

Council of Catholic Women

We endeavor to help provide for the spiritual, social and physical needs of the parish members and to participate in efforts to promote a Christian environment for all people. This is a good place to start to become more involved in your parish.

Piece Makers

Our sewing froup shows love to the needy by providing quilts for comfort and warmth. While working together to spread the love of Christ, a great bond of friendship is formed with all who come. No matter what your sewing skills, there is something for everyone to do. We meet the first Tuesday of the month from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Matthews Hall.

Knights of Columbus

This is a Catholic family service organization dedicated to serving the church and the communities in which members live and standing steadfast in support of the needs of others. They support and foster many programs in defense of all life, assist persons with physical and mental handicaps, morally and financially support seminarians and postulants and promote Christian family life.

Maintenance

Assist church maintenance staff with care and upkeep of interior and exterior of St. John’s church buildings and property. Skills needed are electricians, carpenters, painters, etc. You will be contacted as the need arises.

Donut Sunday Ministry

Assist with coffee and rolls after Sunday Mass. Rolls are ordered and already delivered when you arrive; just set-up and make coffee. Serve on a rotating basis. Training provided.                                     

Friday Donut Ministry

Assist with coffee and rolls after weekday Mass Fridays. Training provided

Event Greeters

Do you enjoy visiting with others? Be a greeter for occasional parish functions. Come 30 minutes before the event to welcome attendees at the church doors and direct them to the event location. Specify day or evening availability.

Event Coordinator

Do you enjoy coordinating the right combination of people and resources to accomplish a project? Are you organized yet flexible? Consider helping with short-term leadership projects. Staff can help mentor you through these projects as needed.

     * Vacation Bible School - one week in the summer

     * Christmas Pageant - Children's Christmas Mass

     * Meal coordinator for families in crisis - coordinate meals for

           approximately on week; volunteer cooks provided

     * Dinner of Remembrance - after Mass, November 1st

     * Organize Small Receptions - such as welcoming seminarians for the

           summer

     * Couple's Dinner - occurs near Valentine's Day to celebrate married

           couples

     * Creative Camp - a three-day event for children and youth

     * Bake cookies or cakes for receptions and events

     * Cook meals for Totus Tuus

     * Cook for Couples Dinner

     * Cook for Follies Dinner Theatre

Media Ministry

If you have a talent, skill or interest in media, consider offering your time to produce the parish newsletter, parish videos or update our parish Web site. We are looking for people interested in photography, video, writing, design and layout.

     Editor to organize quarterly St. John’s parish newsletter

     Design, layout parish newsletter

     Photographers to record parish events for newsletter, etc.

     Video taping and editing to make parish promotional videos

     Computer Website update

     Set up video equipment to view videos in church occasionally

Fiesta Follies

This is St. John’s big parish fundraiser for the youth. Put on an entertaining evening of music, fine food and fun. Besides musically talented people we need people to decorate, set up tables and serve and clean up.

     Decoration —decorates Matthews Hall around the theme of the show.

     Set-up tables consistent with other decorations.

     Clean-up tables after the show

     Stage design—construct and paint set for show.

     Musicians to sing and play accompaniment

     Marketing to find sponsors for our show

     Graphic design to design and produce the playbill

Garden Ministry

If you’re an avid gardener or just interested in learning about gardening. Come help us design, plant, weed, water and praise the Lord with His own creation. Tend the flowers and plants that adorn our parish grounds. No regular meeting, work independently or with a partner. Times are flexible.
