Marriage
Marriage is a covenant or partnership promise of life between a man and a woman, which is ordered to the well-being of the spouses and to the procreation and upbringing of children. When validly contracted between two baptized people, marriage is a sacrament. (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1601)
Couples planning to be married must contact the priest a minimum of 6 months, preferably 1 year, in advance of the wedding date. Arrangements are then made for preparation classes, which include meeting with the priest, a Pre Cana weekend retreat, completing a FOCCUS Pre-Marriage Survey and meeting with a mentor couple. These arrangements are also required of couples planning to be married in a non-Catholic church and where one individual is Catholic. Parish membership is required of at least one of the individuals. For more information, contact the parish office at 507-625-3131 or email us.
